In early 2018, the group was reestablished in the Sioux Falls area by a group of passionate animal lovers. They continue to have a large presence in Madison, assisting the Madison Animal Shelter. We are a small, passionate, dog rescue based in North Wales, UK. Entries that are incomplete or do not adhere to the rules or specifications may be disqualified at the sole discretion of Freshpet. By taking in a homeless dog and giving them a family, you become their entire world - and there is truly no price you can put on a dog's love. Those who are raised with pets exhibit higher self-esteem, compassion and empathy for others, and better non-verbal communication skills - to name a few. All donations are gratefully accepted through our online portal, or in person at the rescue. AHCR depends on donations to give our dogs the best care possible. Once the home visit has been completed, we get you in contact with the foster parents so you can set up a time to meet the dog. This does not mean that you aren't a good adoptive family; we just may not think the dog would do well in your home. We may not decide until after we have done home visits for multiple families and we appreciate your cooperation and patience. We aim to provide a safe haven for dogs that have been abandoned through no fault of their own, rehome them, and to educate the next generation of dog owners. We are doing thisfundraiser to offset her medical and food bills. Adoption fees vary depending on the care required to rehabilitate each individual pet, but usually range from $75.00-$200.00. We are not there to judge your home; we just want to ensure our dogs will be safe in your home and be a good fit for your family. All members of the household MUST be present at the time of the home visit. Neutered/spayed pets are less territorial and less likely to roam. Research indicates that 80% of dogs hit by cars are unaltered males. Spay and Neuter your pet which is the true meaning of responsible pet ownership and love; sterilizing your pets prevents the birth of more homeless animals.

Approximately 25% of the animals in shelters are purebred. Hearts United for Animals made its largest rescue ever when it took in 106 dogs from eight breeders in Nebraska late last week. Angel was cared for throughout the night and had a seizure early in the morning. Again, we rushed her to the vet where she was put in an incubator and given fluids and intensive care.
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. We take considerable care in finding good matches and in educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a pet into their homes and lives. AHCR has the right to deny an adoption application for any reason they seem fit.
If you know anyone who needs assistance with spay/neuter costs, please have them contact us for an application. The winners were selected from 88 applications and announced Monday January 9th, 2009. We hope to have a shelter of our own within the next few years. Almost Home will be holding many fun-filled fundraisers and events in the near future to raise money for our shelter.
Our volunteers take on a variety of roles such as helping at the rescue, transporting dogs to and from vet appointments, and participating in fundraisers. AHCR places dogs in loving, responsible, and committed permanent homes. We take considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives. Please understand that we do our best to choose the home we feel is the best fit for the dog.
Later that day Angel suprised all of us by improving and becoming more alert! She was sent home on a strict feeding schedule; Angel must be handfed every 2-3 hours and have a heating pad available at all times to keep her body temperature up. Their drive and passion to help animals in need is truly inspirational. They find a way to arrange transports, raise funds all based out of the supporters homes. Almost home is 100% foster based rescue where all of the animals in their care are made part of their volunteers homes while they are rehabilitated and brought back to good health. Radar, my rescue from Almost Home, was not even born yet when his mom was found starving and abandoned. Almost Home jumped when they heard about this mother pup in need and just in time, Radar’s mother gave birth before the transport even made it back to Sioux Falls. Without the amazing work done by this organization and it’s volunteers, my amazing boy, his 5 other siblings and mother would have never made it.
This is one small rescue success out of the hundreds they have done. They will truly put any funds to great use saving any animal that is neglected, discarded, in need or injured, because all dogs matter to this rescue. Submit adoption application, complete each question.
